Date of birth: September 10, 1975

Alessandra Lorenzetti achieved degree in Chemical Engineering on 26 November 1999, with 110/110 at the University of Padova, Italy. In February 2003, achieved PhD in Chemical Engineering, with a final paper entitled: "Synthesis of modified polyurethane foams blown with alternative blowing agents: analysis of thermal insulating properties and fire behavior ". Since April 2003, she has received several research grants for carrying on her research works on polymer nanocomposites, with special emphasis on polyurethane polymers. In November 2008 she became Assistant Professor at Chemical Process Engineering Department of Padova University. She is actually carrying on her research activities as Associate Professor at the Industrial Engineering Department, Padova University.

Educational activity
She is Associate Professor in Industrial and technological chemistry (SSD ING-IND27) at the Engineering School of Padova University, where she teaches in the following courses:

  • Innovative Chemical Processes/Green Chemistry (Chemical Engineering, 2nd level, MS degree)
  • Designing with polymers (Materials Engineering, 2nd level, MS degree)

    Main Research Topics
    Her research work deals with polymeric materials, with special emphasis on the following areas:

  • Polymeric nanocomposite: formulation, processing and application;
  • Nanostructured membranes based on nanofibers (electrospinning and electrospraying);
  • Thermal degradation and flame reaction of polymeric systems, search for new halogen-free flame retardants;
  • Chemicals and polymers from renewable or waste materials

    Membership and Appointment
    She is reviewer of Polymer Engineering and Science, Polymer Degradation and Stability, European Polymer Journal, Journal of Applied Polymer Science and Polymers for advanced Technologies. She is author of more than 100 works, including publications on international scientific journals with referee, book chapters and international conference presentations. She is a member of the PhD committee and SPE (Society of Plastics Engineers).
